Visiting Tehran
It might not be an obvious destination, but the Iranian capital is the heart of Persian civilization
and has plenty of treasures to discover. Tehran is the big, buzzing, beating heart of one of the world's
friendliest nations. Tehran has all four seasons around the year and anytime you visit Tehran there is a
variety of things to do.
Iran's capital is urban to the max, and the traffic is appalling but it is worth more than just a stopover.
The Tehran Bazaar is a must. Indeed, great shopping is one of the city's primary attractions. Tehran's many
museums are worth a visit, especially the National Museum of Iran, Golestan Palace, National Jewels Museum,
Sa'ad Abad Palace Complex, Carpet Museum, Glassware and Ceramics Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art,
Park-é Laleh and Park- é Mellat are where Tehranis gather to picnic, play soccer, and while away cool
summer evenings. Don't miss a morning hike in Darakeh or Darband, north of the city, or a cheap and homey
breakfast at one of the many chaykhuneh (tea houses) along the trail.
